Conair Aerospace – Material Tracking System

Conair Aerospace – Material Tracking System

Portfolio Description

Background and History

For over 50 years Conair has led the aerial firefighting industry, supporting agencies with the largest privately owned fixed-wing fleet in the world, flying up to 12,000 flight hours per year. A skilled team equips the company’s 70 aircraft with the latest tools and technology, going above and beyond to ensure aircraft are ready to dispatch when needed. With a focus on safety, Conair offers pilots a Training + Tactics Centre, the only one in the world of its kind, providing access to simulators that produce successful missions in real world operations.

The Problem

Conair was looking to modernize a paper-based process for tracking maintenance parts and supplies used by their aircraft maintenance technicians and engineers.

Their challenges were:

  • Inefficient, paper-based method of tracking inventory
  • Inconsistent processes
  • Their Boeing inventory and maintenance tracking system had to be manually updated

Our Solution

Spot Solutions created a Material Tracking System for the aerospace maintenance company, Conair Aerospace, located in Abbotsford, BC. This kiosk application was installed at various locations throughout the client’s maintenance facilities to be used by aircraft maintenance technicians and engineers. This custom written windows application tracks and organizes the distribution of aircraft maintenance parts and supplies throughout the airport hangar complex, streamlining the workflow and replacing a pre-existing paper-based process. The MTS application interfaces with the back end of the Boeing inventory and maintenance tracking system. The Spot Solutions team designed an extremely intuitive user interface, greatly improving business operational efficiency. Our team also developed complex Oracle database connectivity and integration issues in a live, critical-operation environment.

The Impact

Conair Aerospace now has a modern, efficient way to track their inventory.

Now they can:

  • Automatically update their Boeing inventory and maintenance tracking system.
  • Repurpose time savings to higher value tasks.
